QLess in the press again, new Whozat release a success, NYC launch, and more

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Read our customer’s glowing review of QLess.

In the meantime, an all-new release of Whozat is out: www.whozat.com.  Every site statistic improved with it. Congratulations, Igor, Arthur, Pat & Peter!

QLess is launching in NYC, at the popular Turning Point restaurant chain. Congratulations, Charles!

QLess released a web widget that allows patrons to get in line via the WWW, a bunch of new reports tracking personnel, and a number of other improvements.

QLess monthly usage broke a new record. Holler if you want to get involved or know a place that has lines. No place should. It’s 2009! Cheers, Alex

New Whozat release!

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

A new Whozat look and navigation browser is out! Check it out at www.whozat.com and tell us whether you like it better. Make sure to click on the various tabs. Credits are due to Pat Stern, Arthur Mashinyan, Gevorg, Peter Preksto and of course Igor. Still ironing out a couple of final bugs. Just searched for Yahoo SEM. Google’s top result is an Ambassador certification for 3 employees of Morpheus Media. The good answer is not even in the top 10. In Whozat, it’s one refinement away: http://www.whozat.com/search/?task_id=418873&eventname=expression&object=search%20engine%20marketing&value=yesWhozat away!–Alex

Whozat

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

We had some issues with our DNS servers today. They should be fixed as soon as our DNS changes propagate across the Internet. If you ever get no response from whozat.com, try going directly to one of our servers, such as http://216.138.118.50 or http://216.138.118.52 .

Our apologies!

Picone: Whozat is the people search engine of Web 2.0

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

  1. Thus said Federico Picone of Whozat in his DotPod review. Perhaps even more revealing than Federico Picone’s great review of Whozat are his readers’ comments on it:

“Very interesting tool, really. Thanks for sharing.”

“This is very good; I have just found 4 people that were well hidden. Found!”

    Thanks, Federico!

And here is another great review by Extremisimo.

Elgeek.com praises Whozat’s results

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Elgeek.com writes: “we find some interesting results [in Google], but they don’t rise to the level of Whozat’s, which make your hair stand on end”.

Apologies to Whozat users

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Whozat was down for part of Sunday, and then after we restored it, we made a mistake resetting the DNS that caused errors for users going to www.whozat.com instead of whozat.com. Things are fixed now, and should propagate to all servers within the next 3 hours. Our apologies!

Google thinks that renting optimists in Marina del Rey is a way to see the glass half full

Friday, December 5th, 2008

I want to go sailing. As a kid, I used to sail an optimist, and loved it. So I did this search. In Whozat: http://www.whozat.com/search/?firstname=&middlename=&lastname=&tellmemore=renting+optimist+marina+del+rey&search=Whozat+Me&x=98&y=19In Google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=renting+optimist+marina+del+rey&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=Whozat’s semantic technology correctly interpreted my query, and its first result was about sailing in Marina del Rey. In contrast, Google showed me ads like this:

Marina Del Rey Apartments

  1. Thousands of Westside Listings.Find the Perfect Apartment Today!www.WestsideRentals.comGoogle CheckoutMarina Del Rey Apartments
  2. and the following search result as the top one, with similar ones ranked below:

  3. Marina Pointe Apartment Ratings, Reviews, Map, Rents, and other

Find the best-rated Marina Del Rey apartments for rent near Marina  02/20/ 2008,

I am a perfectionist, and an optimist, and I like it at Marina Pointe!

Yet Google has very relevant search results and ads it failed to show, as can be seen from this query:http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=renting+optimist+boats+marina+del+rey&btnG=Searchwhich shows these ads:

    Optimist Sailboat

    1. Zoum - highest quality racer- best equipedwww.ZoumUSA.com
    2. and this search result as top result:

    3. Boat Rentals - Newport Beach, Marina del Rey, Oceanside, Long Beach
