“Lines out the door every night” — Forget That! :)

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Congratulations to the newest member of the QLess family, The Boiling Crab on being featured in the LA Times!

“Eating crayfish — also known as crawdads and mud bugs — is not for the squeamish. The more adventurous suck the juices from the head. Piles of cracked and shredded shells pile up in front of diners. The seafood smell hangs on customers’ clothing. But customers keep returning, and out-of-town visitors even buy pounds of crayfish to bring home.”

The article mentions that with TBC’s success, they’ve seen “lines out the door every night”.  Their customers are gonna love QLess!

Whozat’s relevance ranking makes a difference

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

It’s not enough to be a semantic engine that understands the meaning of queries. Whozat also ranks search results for their relevance to the query. Say you’re searching for the American Automobile Association.  A semantic engine without relevance ranking returns a Wikipedia article about the AAA as its top result. The AAA’s site is not among the top 20 results at all. Whozat, in contrast, returns the AAA’s website as #1 –in addition to a Wikipedia article about it.
